For their first collaboration with Design Gallery Milano, El Ultimo
Grito further explore the Colourist nature of their work through a
series of applied surfaces, that combine in unexpected ways diverse
materials and finishes, from a primitive application of painted effects
to the innovative use of laser technology where the paint finish is
effectively carved out of the surface to reveal other paints or base
materials.
This work draws from El Ultimo Grito's long term fascination with
topography, natural structures and landscape. For them, landscape
represents humanity’s on going sculptural project, chiseled out from
millennia of social, political, economic and technological advances. A
bird’s eye view of any landscape reveals not only these socio-economic
conditions but the pictorial quality of human intervention. Boundaries,
pattern and color are carved and pasted onto the undulating canvas that
is the terrain. The boundary is the line that sets color against color,
texture against texture, allowing with its division, improbable color
combinations. The boundary is the line of the draftsman, the boundaries
